The idea is simple. Get cooler water out of your storage tank and put solar heated water back in. But how do you do that with an ordinary tank? This can involve tricky modification to the tank, or complicated piping and valves which can destroy naturally occurring stratification.

With it's innovative design it draws cool water from the bottom of the tank and replaces solar heated water above, without significant mixing.
